This notice explains how Carworks handles information from this website and enquiries about our workshop services.
Who is responsible
Carworks Ltd is responsible for your personal information. Our company number is 17415481 and we are registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is 5 School Lane, Old Somerby, Grantham, NG33 4AH, England.
Our workshop is at Conduit Lane, Grantham, NG31 6PB. For a privacy question or request, email enquiries@carworksgrantham.co.uk or call 01476 569947.
Your enquiries
You can contact the workshop through our online enquiry form, by email or by telephone. We use the contact details and information you provide to understand your enquiry, respond and discuss the requested work and availability. Please leave out sensitive personal information that is not needed for your enquiry.
The online form asks for your name, email address, optional telephone number and a brief problem or service description. We save your submission on this website for authorised staff to review and use an email notification to alert the workshop. An enquiry does not confirm an appointment.
We need enough information to understand your request and a way to respond. If you do not provide this, we may be unable to help with the enquiry.
Why we use information
For enquiries about work you ask us to provide, we use the information to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or to carry out an existing contract.
For other service enquiries, we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact the workshop. For technical website records, our legitimate interest is keeping the website available, reliable and secure.
We also rely on our legitimate interest in keeping an accurate record of enquiries and related communications so that we can answer questions, address concerns and resolve disagreements about the requested work.
Enquiry records and email
Our website and workshop email use IONOS services. The workshop owner and authorised workshop staff can access enquiry records and the workshop mailbox to handle enquiries.
We normally keep website enquiries and corresponding emails for five years from the original submission. This provides a record of what was requested and communicated, helping us answer questions, address concerns and resolve any disagreement about the requested work. The site administrator reviews these records monthly and deletes them manually after that period. If particular records are still needed to resolve an ongoing matter or meet a legal requirement, we keep only the relevant information and review that need regularly. We may delete information earlier when it is no longer needed.
For other workshop enquiries, our existing policy remains manual deletion of enquiry records and corresponding email copies 12 months after the last customer contact, with monthly review.
Technical records
Hosting and mail services process technical information to deliver pages and messages and diagnose problems. This can include network addresses, the time and destination of a request, and browser or device information.
SMTP error events are configured for a one-week retention period, with daily cleanup of older events. Detailed email debugging is disabled. Separate hosting records and recovery copies are managed through IONOS; deleting an enquiry does not immediately remove it from earlier recovery copies.
IONOS’s Web Hosting information states that website visitor information, including anonymised IP addresses, is retained for eight weeks and that the visitor data covered by that service is not transferred outside the EU. IONOS also states that automatic hosting backups are made daily and are available for a maximum of 14 days. These periods are separate from our policy for enquiry records and email.
Fonts and external services
The website loads its typefaces through Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google’s services to request those files, which involves sending your network address and normal request information to Google. Google’s privacy information explains its processing and international operations.
Google’s Fonts privacy FAQ says its Fonts API does not set or log cookies and does not use font-request information for profiling or targeted advertising. Google receives the requested file address, browser information and referring webpage as well as your network address. Its transfer information describes international processing and safeguards.
This website includes a Google Maps map of our workshop. It loads when you open the page, so your browser connects to Google and sends your network address and normal request information. Google’s privacy information explains its processing and international operations. If you follow links to other websites, those providers’ privacy information applies to your visits there.
Browser storage
WordPress stores a temporary browser check in session storage to help display emoji correctly. This records browser support results and the time of the check, rather than an enquiry or customer identity. Session storage belongs to the browser tab and normally ends when that tab is closed.
Cookie choices and website statistics
We use necessary preference cookies to remember the choices you make through Cookie preferences. These cookies normally last for 365 days. They do not contain the contents of your enquiry.
If you accept statistics cookies, this website can use Google Analytics to help us understand visits and improve the website. We rely on your consent for this optional measurement. Google receives information such as the pages visited, page titles, referring website, broad browser and device information, cookie identifiers and normal network request information. We do not use Analytics to collect your enquiry form contents or for personalised advertising.
You can reject statistics cookies or change your choice through Cookie preferences. You can use the website and send an enquiry without accepting statistics cookies. Changing your choice does not remove information already sent to Google.
Google Analytics uses cookies called _ga and _ga_<container-id>. Their default lifetime is two years, and return visits can renew them; your browser may apply a shorter limit. Our Analytics settings retain event-level data for two months and user-level data for fourteen months. New activity renews the user-identifier retention period. These settings do not limit the lifetime of standard aggregated reports.
Google processes Analytics information on our behalf and may process it outside the UK. Google’s privacy information explains its processing and international safeguards. Read Google’s privacy information.
Your rights
Depending on the processing and the legal basis, you may have rights to access your information, correct it, request deletion, restrict its use, object to its use or receive a transferable copy. These rights have conditions and exceptions.
Contact us using the details above to make a request or raise a concern. We will explain how the relevant rights apply to your request.
You can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

We will update this notice when the website or its information handling changes. Material changes will be explained in the updated notice before a new website collection feature is enabled.
